1. Overview

SavaJe Technologies is pleased to announce the availability of SavaJe OS Version 1.1 with full support for the Compaq iPAQ 3600 series and 3700 series. Limited support for 3800 series is available in this release, please see the Known Issues section for the details. This release contains several bug fixes. These are discussed in brief detail in the following notes. See our online documentation and online FAQs for more details.


2. Bug Fixes and Changes

            Some of the bug fixes and new features include:

    1. Support for Network Name and Ad-Hoc when using a Wireless LAN
    2. Dial-up support using a SprintPCS phone and 3COM 3CXM756 Cellular modems
    3. Support for CDPD modem, tested using a Spider Modem on GoAmerica network
    4. Support for Multicast/JINI/Java Spaces
    5. Support for 128-bit WEP key
    6. Support for CF-II slot D-Link Wireless Network Card (Model # DCF-650W)

3. Licensing

When you download SavaJe OS each user receives an evaluation license that is valid for 30-days from the date of the download. A permanent license can be purchased online from http://www.savaje.com/products/ . Users who already have a license for 1.0 can continue to use the same key for this release. For users who upgrade using our upgrade instructions, there will be no need to re-enter the license key.

 

4. Known Issues 

Due to limited information on the 3800 hardware layout, this release provides a limited support for the 3800 series. Few known issues are listed below, for an updated list of Known Issues please visit our support site.
  1. No Support for Bluetooth (3800s only)
  2. No support for the SD Card (3800s only)
  3. No support for Compaq Microkey board (3800s only)
  4. Power Management (3800s only)
    • Battery cannot be charged when the device is in suspend mode
    • Battery status on the iPAQ expansion pack is not available
  5. WLAN: ESSID and Ad-Hoc mode configurations are not persistent across reboots
  6. Serial Port: Applications that use serial port connections may cause an occasional lock up when the connection is not initiated by the iPAQ .
  7. Streaming MP3 songs over then network may cause an occasional crash.
